19990108: Miscellaneous Lab Upgrade Routines

January/1999
Tech Note #8

Neil B has written a number of helpful routines for running common lab upgrades. They are posted on the shop ftp site.

All these batch files assume the following:
- The workstations have drive F: mapped to the "Summer98" share on the server
- The LockIt95 files (including the "command" directory) are in a directory named "Lockit95"
- The Win95 McAfee files are in a directory named "Mcafee95"
- The workstation drive L: is mapped to the server CD-ROM containing the division CD

B4.BAT -        Runs the B4&AFTER routine
BM.BAT -        Runs the Busmaster Upgrade
VR.BAT -        Runs the Virtual Redirector update
W4.BAT -        Runs the MSWorks 4.0 fix
ST.BAT -        Creates c:\students\labpop and c:\students\webfiles directory structure
FW.BAT -        Runs the "Freeware.bat" routine passing it the drive L: parameter
LO.BAT -        Runs the Lockit95 setup program
LU.BAT -        "Lockit Update", removes read only attribute from prefs.js, calls "Lockit95(rev98) Update 9810.bat", applies read only attribute to prefs.js
MC.BAT -        Runs the McAfee setup program for Win95
SM.BAT -        This assumes you have placed a read-only copy of the lab's standard start menu in a folder named "start menu" in the summer98 share, log in as student, unlock the workstation, this batch file deletes the current start menu replacing it with the common one on the server
