19990605: Automatic Proxy Server Install Didn't?

It is possible that Netscape Proxy Server will not automatically install during SETUP on the designated proxy server. (This can happen when the TCP/IP bindings are in a non-standard order, and/or in cases where multiple IP addresses are bound to the system. Remote Access can also cause this situation.) If you run SETUP on the server, update workstations on the admin LAN, and find that the admin LAN still has no web access, check the WSD1 Tech Log to see if Netscape Proxy Server installed. If it didn't install, simply go into WSD1 Server Prep and double-click the icon for Install-Reconfigure Netscape Proxy Server. As long as you don't get a message indicating you're installing it on the wrong machine, everything should be fine when the installation completes itself. If you do get that message, then either the Proxy Server software should be installed on a different system, or you will have to call Brian L in Information Systems to get the DNS updated for that school. You do not need to modify any settings in Wingate or Netscape Proxy for it to work. It is all automatic. |
