September/2000
Tech Note #2

Summer 2000 computer maintenance - all Windows 98 SE workstations:

Obtain the Dec/1999 Windows 98 Second Edition Shutdown Supplement from Microsoft or from the shop ftp site. For more information about this update, see Microsoft Technical Article Q239887.

Obtain the May/2000 Windows 98 Second Edition Mapped Network Drives Shutdown Update from Microsoft or from the shop ftp site. For more information about this update, see Microsoft Technical Article Q260067

Copy the two files (4756US8.exe and 260067UP.exe) to C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS on each workstation. Run each update from that location. You will need to reboot.

Note: Windows 98SE workstations which have had the most recent version of the WSD1 Anti-Virus Installer/Updater run already have 4756US8.EXE installed. However, the 260067UP.EXE update is not included with the Anti-Virus Installer as of the date of this article.
