Tech Note #3

Summer 2000 computer maintenance - all workstations and servers:

Install WSD1IP (new version for ADSL compatibility). From the "WSD1IP 2000" diskette, run INSTALL. The new version of WSD1IP will allow for 10.0.x.x IP addressing, sets the proxy server for secure http, loads quicker - especially in NT, is compatible with NT workstation, and has a variety of new command line switches for easy customization of administrative machines. Run WSD1IP /? for more details.

Division technicians may download the latest version of the WSD1IP diskette from the shop ftp site.

For the latest information regarding WSD1IP, please see the WSD1IP FAQ and Revision History document at the shop ftp site.

For the latest information regarding revisions to DHCP and TCP/IP network addressing necessitated by the transition to ADSL, please see the ADSL Network Config document at the shop ftp site, or contact Information Systems.

Note: Windows 9x workstations which have had the most recent version of the WSD1 Anti-Virus Installer/Updater run already have WSD1IP 2000 installed. However, as of the date of this article, the Windows 3.1x Anti-Virus Installer still included the 1999 version of WSD1IP.
