We've seen it on TV, in the mall, and in our schools. The Yu-Gi-Oh! craze has apparently taken over our planet. Now what is this show about, you ask? Well, I'll tell you one thing...it's more than just a card game...(I'm serious) It's a story that takes place in what I believe to be Japan (Tokyo, in particular. *Waves* Thanks 'twbod'!). It's about a young boy named Yugi who owns an ancient Egyptian item called the "Millennium Puzzle." Within the puzzle lies the spirit on an ancient Egyptian pharaoh named "Yami." Before Yugi is challenged to a duel, he quickly transforms into Yami (more like possessed by Yami). Well here goes my basic summary of it.
Season 1 of Yu-Gi-Oh! was about Yugi's quest to rescue his grandfather's soul from a man named Pegasus. His grandpa's soul is trapped in a card. Sometime in the beginning, prior to Yugi's grandpa's soul being trapped in a card, Yugi defeated the Duel Monsters World Champion, Seto Kaiba. Since then, Kaiba has been Yugi's nemesis, however, they occasionally help each other (they're weird). Anyway, the tournament being help by Maximillion Pegasus is called "Duelist Kingdom." Pegasus throws the tournament so he can win Yugi's Millennium puzzle and wield the power to resurrect his lost love Cecelia (I don't know how he expected to do that though). At the same time, Pegasus & Industrial Illusions (his company) took a hostile takeover of Kaiba's company (Kaiba Corp.) and took Kaiba's little brother Mokuba prisoner. Kaiba goes to Duelist Kingdom to rescue his brother, but his brother's soul is then trapped in the "Shadow Realm" so he is then forced to duel Yugi in order to get a chance to defeat Pegasus. Yugi allows Kaiba to defeat him for the sake of rescuing his brother, but Kaiba is unsuccessful at later defeating Pegasus. So then Yugi goes after Pegasus and defeats him, winning the souls of his grandfather, Seto & Mokuba Kaiba. But more trouble slowly brews as Bakura pulls the Millennium Eye from Pegasus' eyeball socket (disgusting). Now Bakura owns one more Millennium item and is growing nearer in his quest for all 7. But although things seem to calm down for a while, more trouble lurks in the dark for Yugi. A robed man (whose name is not revealed until Season 2) and his group of hoodies are on a mission to defeat Yami-Yugi in a duel...
In Season 2 of Yu-Gi-Oh!, Seto Kaiba throws a tournament ("Battle City") in the town of Domino. An Egyptian woman by the name of Ishizu Ishtar advises him that if he were to have a tournament, the "Rare Hunters" were bound to compete (the Rare Hunters are the hoodies). The Rare Hunters are in possession of 2 "Egyptian God monsters," or in other words, the strongest duel monsters. If Kaiba were to defeat them in a duel, he could obtain the cards from them. Ishizu gives Kaiba "Obelisk the Tormentor," one of the 3 Egyptian God monsters and tells him to play it in the tournament.
In Season 3 of Yu-Gi-Oh!, the Battle City Finals are postponed due to a mysterious character by the name of Noah. Kaiba, Mokuba, Yugi & Co. are then taken to some 'other dimension.' Kaiba & Mokuba view reenactments of the past, but think of it only as an illusion since no one else could've possibly known, especially not Noah. As for Yugi & Co., they each had to fight Kaiba's former executives (in some way or another). Finally, it all came down to a duel between Kaiba & Noah, which was finished by Yugi (I mean Yami Yugi...you know what I mean ^_^*) in attempts to prevent his friends (including himself) from turning into stone ad to reverse the process on Kaiba & Mokuba (who were already petrified). In the end, Kaiba had to fight Gozoburu (Gozaiburu or w/e his name is) and escape to the real world with the help of Noah, Gozoburu's real son. So, in the end, it turned out that Noah wasn't so bad after all and Kaiba then headed off to where he originally planned on going to: The Battle City Finals!
In Season 4 of Yu-Gi-Oh!, the Battle City Finals are finally here! (Sure took a while, didn't it?) So then Joey fought Marik (Joey lost, I would assume, and his mind get sent to the shadow realm, but I dunno' how he came back though...weird). Then "Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie" came out for the battle between Yugi & Kaiba (I didn't see it, but obviously Yugi won). Finally, Yugi (well Yami Yugi, obviously ^_^*) fought Yami Marik in a duel (I actually saw this battle). The good Marik' spirit went to Odion and told him how much he was sorry that he never said "thank you" for all he's done for him, etc. Odion awoke shortly afterward and then went up to the duel between Yami Marik & Yami Yugi. After a few knockdowns by Yami Marik, Odion's words finally got to the good Marik, who then controlled Yami Marik (the tables turned). Marik told the Pharaoh to attack him, so that he only had one life point left, which was then depleted after Marik forfeited. Yami Marik was sent to the Shadow Realm and Marik gave Yami the following items: The "Winged Dragon of Ra" card, the Millennium Ring (which Yami Marik obtained from Yami Bakura), & the Millennium Rod. Together Marik, Ishizu, & Odion turned to a "normal" way of life (no more hatred towards the Pharaoh) and lived above the the ground from now on (no more "deep below the desert sand" stuff). Kinda' corny, but kinda' nice ^.^*
In Season 5 of Yu-Gi-Oh!...oh geez I barely even watch the show now... Okay well there's this villain dude called Darts and his 3 lackeys Raphael, Alistor & man the other dude...I dunno if I'm even spelling their names right. I don't wanna' finish this summary now! =__=* ~sorry~
