Due to Soujirou's past Soujirou (see profile) cannot express his emotion and keeps them bottled inside hiding all of his ken ki. Although this works to Soujirou's advantage because since all of his ken ki is hidden noone can sense where he will attack from or when he will attack, thus giving Soujirou a killer technique advantage. Also because of the hard labor Soujirou went through as a child makes his legs extremely strong making his speed god-like.
Shukuichi-
A technique which utilizes the leg strength of a person this technique is actually the name of a high speed in Japan. Though with Soujirou he can toy with anyone using this speed. It simply means that the indiviual instantly goes from a standstill position to a full speed assault in an instant so fast the it is inviible to the naked eye.
Usually Soujirou would go two steps of Shukuichi or three steps below Shukuichi which alone is extremely fast because all that can be seen is small crater-like tears in the mat. When Soujirou achives true Shukuichi he is competly invisible as if he vanished into thin air. Only someone that can achieve a greater or equal speed to Soujirou's can see him. As shown in the Kenshin television episode fight ShintanSatsu vs Amakekeru Ryu no Hirameki.
ShintanSatsu-
The ShintanSatsu is the finishing technique that Soujirou uses. The meaning of the ShintanSatsuis that the attack is so swift that there isn't even time to feel the pain of the blow. This technique is started off with Soujirou in a battoujitsu stance except with the sword down even more and the hand is not ready by the handle. After the stance Soujirou would perfom a true Shukuichi speed then perform the battoujitsu. So in simple terms its performing a battoujitsu using the speed of the Shukuichi. This speed is equaled to that of the HitenMitsurugiRyuu ryu no ougi: Amakekeru Ryu no Hirameki, although in terms of power behind the strike ShinTanSatsu is weaker than the Amakekeru Ryu no Hiramkei.
