Memon Educational Board
The Memon
Educational Board was established in 1947 in Karachi as a welfare and
charitable society for providing educational facilities with the objective
of eliminating illiteracy. Soon after the establishment of Memon
Educational Board, various schools, from Primary to Secondary levels, were
setup in different parts of the Karachi, which continue to provide
excellent education to students.
In 1972, all schools established
by Memon Educational Board were nationalized along with other educational
institutions in Pakistan. In 1984, these schools were denationalized. As a
result, the management of schools reverted back to the Memon Educational
Board.
In 1990, the Memon Educational
Board decided to build a Girls College in the name of The Memon Girls
College at Federal B Area, Karachi adjacent to Memon Secondary School on a
plot measuring about 2 acres. Initially, the college was established at a
cost of Rs. 10 million. Later the first floor was constructed at a further
cost Rs. 10 million.
The Memon Educational Board has
chalked out an ambitious program for establishing a scientific and
technical center, with emphasis on Information Technology, at F.B.
Area, Karachi. This would provide high-tech educational facilities at a
very reasonable cost.
