6 - Nav
Raatri [Chaitra Maas - 1st Day-9th Day of Shukla Paksh]
These nine days are devoted to nine Devee (godess). They are celebrated twice in a year once in Chaitra Maas and second in Aashwin Maas just before Dashehraa. Each day belongs to one Devee. People keep fasts, some for only the first day, some for only the eighth day, some for seven days and some for eight days. At the end, i.e. on eighth day or on ninth day a Braahaman girl and a boy below the age of 9-10 are fed and given some money as Dakshinaa. Pooree and Halvaa are made on that day.
