7 - Raam Navamee
[Chaitra Maas - 9th Day of Shukla Paksh]

This day comes in the continuation of Nav Raatri of Chaitra Maas. This is the birthday of Lord Shree Raam - the 7th Avatar of Lord Vishnu, who defeated a great demon called Raavan in Tretaa Yug. People worship Raam, Lakshman and Seetaa and read Ram-Janm Kathaa in Ramaayan on this day. Make Halvaa Pooree and feed Braahman's Kanyaa (younger than 10 years of age girls) and Langar (up to 10-12 years of age boys). You will see many well-dressed young children roaming here and there, going to different houses and feeding themselves there. They get money also after the food as Dakshinaa.
