Evaluation

This skill requires you to look at the evidence and make judgments and conclusions. You should then be able to justify as to why you have decided on a specific course of action. You should also be able to criticise the findings made from your analysis.

Such skills include:

making a judgment by weighing up the relative merits of different arguments
drawing conclusions from all the evidence presented
justifying a course of action
distinguishing between fact and opinion
commenting on the reliability of evidence presented

Questions in exams testing these skills typically begin with command words such as:

Assess	Look at an issue and place a value on its importance	Assess the impact of low productivity on the UK's competitiveness
Critically analyse	Look at an issue, analyse it and then make a judgment on the importance of this analysis	Critically analyse the economic problems faced by UK manufacturing today
Do you think	Make a judgment on an issue or problem	Do you think congestion charges should be introduced?
