MONETARY SYSTEM
Maldives does not have a fixed exchange rate.
The daily demand and supply determine the value
of the Maldivian Rufiya (MRf). Major currencies
can be exchanged at authorized moneychangers.
There is no restriction of the amount of foreign
currency that visitors may bring in or take out
of the country.
Exchange Rate: US$ 1 = MRf11.82 (February 1998).
Now Exchange Rate of 1 US$ is 12.75
The GDP estimated that MRf 1190.2 million in
1993 (at 1985 constant prices) amounted to a per
capita GDP of MRf 4,993 (about US$ 703.4) GDP
growth rate (1992 - 1993) is 6.2%.
