Homework Policy
At Suzanne Middle School, homework is considered an integral part
of the total school program. As students progress through the school
year, it is expected they will supplement their classroom learning
with reading, reinforcement of skills and research beyond the regular
day.
Middle school students should spend approximately two hours per
night on homework activities. if your student does not have regular
homework, parents should contact teachers or the appropriate
Student/Staff Advisor. On days when there are less than two hours of
work the remainder of the time should be spent reading or working on
academic projects. all students should have a regular place and time
to work and study.
Good study habits lead to academic success. Parents should monitor
student effort and provide and appropriate environment in the home in
which the student can work. To promote the development of better
organizational skills and enhance home/school communication, Suzanne
Middle School, with the support of its Community Club provides a
"Binder Reminder" for each student . Students are encouraged to
record assignments in their Binder Reminder daily. Parents can
support student progress by checking Binder Reminder entries and
homework daily.
Effective Research Techniques...
Accessing computer information is not an end in itself. Parents
and students should be aware that copying material from a CD, such as
Encarta, and /or the Internet, is illegal and not the final outcome
of the learning process.
It would be most beneficial if parents would review student
assignments and reports before the work is submitted to the teacher.
By simply asking your student what the material means and how it was
obtained you can quickly gain valuable insight into their level of
understanding and how the data was obtained.
