Changes in Student Information ...

It is imperative that parents report any change of information to the school office. The office must have the student's correct address, parent's home and business phone number, and a person authorized to act on behalf of the student in the event of illness or emergency.

Pupil Promotion and Retention ...

In accordance with AB1626 the Walnut Valley Unified School District has adopted a promotion/ retention policy which establishes minimum proficiency levels for students. Parents of students identified by the school as being at risk of fulfilling grade-level requirements will become involved in a process which will determine whether a student is promoted or retained.

Parent Visitations ...

We welcome your presence at Suzanne and encourage your visit to our facility, but please remember you must first check in at the office. Students are not allowed to bring guest during the school day. We appreciate your cooperation with this policy in order to minimize classroom and campus disruptions.

A Tobacco- Free Environment ...

Research has demonstrated that there are health hazards associated with tobacco use, including chewing, smoking, and breathing of second hand smoke.

The WVUSD Board of Trustees, in the best interest of students, employees and the general public, is committed to providing a tobacco-free environment.

In accordance with California State Health and Safety code, Section 44147 the Walnut Valley Unified School District prohibits smoking and the use of all tobacco products within all facilities and on the grounds of all properties owned leased or rented by or from the district and within all school vehicles at all times by all persons, including all employees, students, visitors at any school site or persons attending any school sponsored activities athletic events or meetings.

Gum ...

Bringing gum or chewing gum on campus is strictly forbidden at Suzanne Middle School. We are proud of our beautiful school and continue to work at keeping it free of gum and litter.

Office Deliveries ...

Any deliveries for students must be checked in at the office, Students with deliveries will have their names posted outside the office. Students are responsible for checking this list during their break times as we will not interrupt our students' instructional program. Please note that flowers and balloon arrangements often become major distractions and are discouraged.

 

Lost and Found ...

Suzanne Middle School strives to provide a safe environment for students and their belongings. Students are responsible for loss of damage to any personal property. Students should clearly mark their names on personal items. articles lost or found should be reported to the office. LARGE SUMS OF MONEY, JEWELRY, ELECTRONIC DEVICES OR OTHER VALUABLES SHOULD NOT BE BROUGHT TO SCHOOL. Any lost items not claimed after a reasonable time will be sent to a charitable institution.

Buying - Selling - Trading ...

Buying selling or trading ANYTHING at school is strictly forbidden. This includes: candy, gum, and other food items; trading cards, video game cartridges, audio/video cassettes, CD's, games and any other non-school sponsored items. Please be aware that Ed. code 51521 states: "No person shall solicit any other person to contribute to any fund or to purchase any item of personal property, upon the representation that the money received is to be wholly or in part for the benefit of any public school or the student body of any public school, unless such person obtains the prior written approval from the school administration."

Library ...

The library at Suzanne Middle School contains a fine collection of book, magazines, reference books and other materials. All students are encouraged to use this facility. Parents are invited to become part of the library volunteer staff. Library Hours: Monday - Thursday from 7:20-3:30 and on Fridays 7:20- 2:30. Failure to return library of textbooks, or to compensate for lost books will result in withholding of yearbook and /or end of year activities.

Telephone ...

A pay telephone is available for students use after school hours. The office telephones may be used by students in emergency situations only with permission from a Student/Staff Resource Advisor and not for personal calls. Homework and other items forgotten at home do not constitute emergencies.

 

Medication ...

In compliance with California Education Code 49423 there is a medication policy which protects both the student receiving the medication and the staff member who administers it. No medications are to be given at school, even those which can be purchased without prescription, without prior authorization of the parent AND Physician. This includes cold remedies, cough syrups, etc. Students who use medications regularly, such as asthma inhalers, need to have assigned medication form on file each school year. Any time a student brings Medication to school it MUST be accompanied by the completed medication form available in the office.

Closed Campus ...

Suzanne Middle School is a closed campus. Once a student arrives at school, he/she is not permitted to leave until the school day has ended. Parents wishing to check their students out of school early, for any reason, must personally sign them out in the school office.

Flags ...

Suzanne Middle School plies three flags: the Stars and Stripes of the United States, the California State Flat and the POW/MIA flag which honors the memory of all servicemen and women who have not returned home from the wars. We salute them all.

Skateboards ...

No skate boards, roller blades, or razors are to be brought on to the campus during or after the school hours.
