Valuer Guy Robert!

Born in Quebec, the writer and historian of art GUY ROBERT was a doctor in aesthetics from the University of Paris, and a professor, lecturer and advisor in the field of art and culture.

He has published, since 1955, about fifty books and numerous articles on art, literature and aesthetics; has taugth in several universities and colleges; and has also participated in various radio and television programmes and films.

Animator, he founded in 1964 and directed the Montreal Museum of contemporary art, then has organized the International Exhibition of Modern Sculpture for Expo 67, as well as other events such as the M.-A. Fortin retrospect at the Quebec Museum in 1976.

He has published art books, poetry, and "artists books" with original prints. Among his best known essays are his books on Borduas, Lemieux, Riopelle, Fortin, Pellan, Dallaire, Dumouchel and Bonet; on the School of Montreal, Art in Quebec since 1940, Painting in Quebec since its origins, Art in Quebec since 1970.

Member of the International Association of Art Critics and of the Union of Quebec writers, he has been a member of the Federal Cultural Policy Committee from 1979 to 1982, a member of the Canadian Cultural Property Board, and has been awarded the Montreal Literary Grand Prize.

He died on october the 14th 2000.
