VX800 Down in California's Wine Country
Well heaven forbid that I keep the bike up for any period of time! Was zipping around the beautiful Wine Country when I decided it might be a good time to lay down on the highway and get some sun! Next time I do that, I might dismount the bike slightly less vigorously!!!!! In all seriousness... I was on the road and was looking out at some gravel off to the side of the road. When you ride a motorcycle, you tend to drive in the direction you are looking, which is human nature. I was starting to head towards the gravel, and when I cut the wheels on the bike, it was too late... I had already found some of that gravel on the road, the wheels could not grab, and the bike went down I am happy to report that my left leg did a great job of protecting the motorcycle from severe damage on the side I went down on!!!! Way to go leg! I sure wouldn't want a scratched up tailpipe and a good leg!!!!! That would certainly not be very manly!
Here are some pictures of myself and my ride. While the damage is rather great on the front side, the parts are modular, and I will be able to fix it quickly and rather inexpensively. The bike is actually in great shape mechanically. I know what most are thinking.... "Scott, this is a sign from above! Get rid of the bike!!!!" It's a "guy thing", I have to go back to that spot and ride through it to prove that man can conquer all!!!! Photos courtesy of B. Bacon
