Fed up with the mushy waves in the Benelux, Jo, Eva & me took our stuff and drove to France. Yes, i know. I would never go to France again but what can you do? Spain is too far, the pound is too expensive so England is out of the question, so France is the only thing left. I took of two days earlier and drove to Wissant. The campsite wasn't open yet but I could put up my tent anyway. OK, there was no water but it was only for two days. And I could go to the toilet, had a safe place to sleep and didn't have to pay for it. The surf was average. The waves were bad. So I just made a few walks allong the beach and enjoyed the view. After two days Jo & Eva arrived and we drove to Dieppe. What we saw there was crazy. Big pounding waves but too much rocks for our average skills. Finally we arrived in Pourville. Nice setting. Beautifull waves but more crowded than expected. A very young surfers population wich was fun because for the first time since I went surfing in France I met some friendly locals. We also checked Wimereux and Cap Gris-Nez but it was a very flat situation. We went to the Shark Island Surf Shop in Dieppe. Cool shop man. Worthwile to make a stop. Real soulsurfers. The same in Domburg by the way. We stayed in Bed and Breakfast, Formule 1 and stuff. We ate in restaurants or bought alot of seafood. Allways good food that means. The last day we went surfing in Wissant again. This time it was better. Good long running waves. A good finisher. Certainly a trip worth remembering but as allways when you go to France you need more money. |
