Room 23 Classroom Rules

On the first day of school, students worked in groups to brainstorm lists of possible classroom rules.  From the lists, the students agreed to the following:

1. Treat others the way you want to be treated.  Be nice and show respect.

2. One person speaks at a time.  Listen to that person.

3. Raise your hand to speak.  Do not interrupt.

4. Follow directions and rules such as asking permission to use the bathroom, sharpen your pencil, and get a drink.

Overall, be respectful, responsible, and resourceful.

Should a child choose not to follow one or more of these rules, the following consequences will result.

1.  Warning.

2.  Five minutes of "Time Out."

3.  Ten minutes of "Time Out."

4.  Student and teacher conference to determine ways to correct the behavior.  For example, a phone call to parents, behavior contract, meeting with the Principal, etc.

In the case of a severe offense, the child will be sent to the Principal's office immediately.
