Current Research

As you can tell from the annoying banner at the right, this part of my page is on a separate server from the rest of my website. I had to move it due to the size.

There are three main reasons I am creating this page:
1> To be a resource for those interested in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Neural Networking
2> To be a resource for those interested in working with the Lego Mindstorms systems
3> To document what I learn, and archive valuable resources for future use

On my resources page I have a links section containing all the valuable websites and pages that I have come across while doing my research. This section will be ever expanding as I continue my research. Click here to view the links section

Currently I am exploring the areas of Artificial Intelligence and Neural Networking. I am working with Dr. Gene Tagliarini at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington doing undergraduate research with the Lego Mindstorms Robotics Invention System, thanks to the support of the UNCW Computer Science Department and Dr. Tagliarini.

For the first part of my research, I am learning everything I can about the Lego Mindstorms RCX, which is the brain of the Mindstorms system. I am studying the hardware architecture of the RCX, and how to program it. I am also experimenting with the different methods of programming the system. There are many different languages and IDEs (Integrated Development Environments) available for the RCX. Click here for links to some of them.

 Topics

Due to the enormous amount of information I will be compiling, this page will serve as an index to my other pages. Below are different topics to choose from, and of course more will be added as I do more research. Most of the information on this site refers to the Lego Mindstorms Robotics Invention System(RIS) 1.5 which uses the RCX 2.0 The only material that would not necessarily be for that model would be information that was obtained from other sources.
