The biggest part of a deck is of course the units. Choosing which units you want makes up the strategy your going to have. Jedi, Bounty Hunters, Rebels/Imperials, Geonosians or Droids all make for good strategies. It doesn't matter what you choose, each one is good and each one is tournament worthy. How you build your deck is what counts. Jedi can help themselves with their Evade, Deflect and power up abilities. Bounty Hunters are fast and powerful, but you may need to protect them with other cards with Rebels being the same. Every unit has a purpose and their potential is only limited to what the deck builder can see. When you limit a unit, than that unit is technically limited by you. Units like Yoda (C) (Sith Rising), which have the Tap and Zap ability are good units. Darth Tyranus (D) (Sith Rising) has the same ability and can really help against non-Jedi decks or even some Jedi decks that don't have Jedi Masters as that ability won't work well against them. Fast units like Darth Maul (A) (Sith Rising), which has a speed of 70, will help you a lot as they will attack first. Anakin Skywalker (H) (Jedi Guardians) is very helpful with his 60 speed and 5 power. Cards like Jango Fett (A) (Attack of the Clones) can greatly damage a Jedi deck. With his 60 speed and power of 7 he can damage a Jedi, especially with added bonuses like Critical Hit 2 when attacking a Jedi or Jango Fett (B)'s +1 power and Critical Hit 1 bonus when attacking a Jedi. With the introduction of Rogues and Scoundrels, Bounty Hunters have become popular. Why not? With cards like Boba Fett (G) (Rogues and Scoundrels), which has a Bounty of 1 build point and his 70/7/7 for 9 BP is great. Another good Bounty Hunter is Bossk (A) (Rogues and Scoundrels) with a power of 8 and health of 7 for 9 BP. He has a great Bounty which allows you to discard cards from your opponent's deck and card denial is always good. He also has an added Critical Hit 2 which can do some damage. Dengar (A) (Rogues and Scoundrels) just happens to be another great card. He is a build of 7 which is not hefty for a 50/7/7 unit. Most of the Bounty Hunters now will attack first as they have good speed and when they attack they will attack hard. Keeping them on the field is another thing so incorporating cards like Hero's Dodge (Attack of the Clones) or damage removal cards like Mending (Attack of the Clones) is a good idea. The one problem with Bounty Hunters now is that they have added the Upkeep mechanic and unless you pay the Upkeep, which can be anything from discarding a card to paying build points, the unit will not stay in play. So incorporating cards that can get you extra build points will help as well as force gain cards. Rebels/Imperials, Geonosians and Droids can be pretty weak. With some good help from other cards though, they can be pretty powerful. A good unit would be the Geonosian Squad (Attack of the Clones). They are slow at 30 speed and weak at 2 power, but they have a Critical Hit of 3 and a build cost of 4 which won't break the bank. Add a Brutal Assault (Sith Rising), +x power, or a Surge of Power (Attack of the Clones), +x power, and this unit can be great. The Geonosian Defense Platform (Attack of the Clones) is another good unit to use. It has a paltry 20 speed, but great power and health at 7/7. Rebels are a good bet as well. They don't look like much, but use the right cards and you can have some good matches. Princess Leia (A) (A New Hope) can be a pain with her force denial and Rebel Lieutenant (A New Hope) can help in Space with his Pilot ability. He adds +10 speed and +1 power to what he pilots while also adding +10 speed to all other units. While he does that, Rebel Crew Chief (A New Hope) allows you to put a build point on a partially built Space unit and since he is not unique you can add more. Cards like Death Star Hangar Bay (A New Hope) can be a pain as well as it allows the player to tap a 5 or less power unit in the Space arena and Imperial Control Station (A New Hope) gives Starfighters in the Space arena a +1 power to help out. Droids are great to use. They don't have Evade abilities, but they do have good power and health. One great unit is the Super Battle Droid 5TE. For 4 build points you get a 40/4/4 unit. It doesn't sound like much, but when grouped with another droid in any arena it gets +10 speed and +1 power. Coupled with Super Battle Droid 8EX (Attack of the Clones), which has the same ability, a 40/5/5 unit for 5 build points they can be pretty powerful. Add to that a Droid Control Ship (Attack of the Clones) and you get another +10 speed to all droids. Super Battle Droid Squad (Sith Rising) and Homing Spider Droid (Sith Rising) can help secure the Ground arena with their good health and good power. <-------- Page 1 | Page 3--------> |
