Space Frontiers

In the light of the night
The stars shine bright
And a planet circles.
Twice in the blackness
Of the night.

Books Here and Now

The covers may be
Bright and shiny, but
Deep inside there’s more
Than anyone knows. It
Takes a special person
To find the meaning
Of a book or poem.

These were written back when I was in eigth grade, and I was so far from where I was to come. Never in my life had I written poetry and it was for an assignment, so, I just wrote about what I liked, which included books and sci-fi/fantasy (thought more fantasy). Of course, at that time I thought that all poetry rhymed. The first poem, "Space Frontiers" prove this, and while I don't hate rhyme, I can't really write any poem in rhyme without it sounding stupid. But never mind that, because of that assignment, I had found a new outlet for my thoughts and emotions. I like them, though sometimes I can't believe how I used to write back then.
