The Circle (Original Story)

The night was cool and dark. The wind was harsh and the shadows loomed over all the trees. Suddenly, I heard a noise. Thinking it was nothing, I continued.

Minutes later, I heard it again. I turned around to see a?rabbit with shining eyes, but that wasn?t what I had heard. Panicky I began to run, like wildfire, only to be stopped by a loud thump. Too scared to turn around, I continued to run, anywhere that was safe?hopefully. I ran down Chestnut Street, the thumping became louder, still it was unknown to me. All I could do was to get away and hide. Then a flash of light stopped me dead in my tracks.

It was Joni, telling me to hop in, because we had to get to the airport. Joni told me that at the airport we could find shelter, for the Unknown.

At the airport, we saw many others who were also hiding from the Unknown.

When I asked an old man what was going on, he replied, ?All we can do is pray.? There were others in the room who said there was no hope.

Not comprehending what Joni was saying, I turned around to see seven strangers dressed in black robes. They came forward and removed their hoods. Their faces were strange to me. They seemed so peaceful, not frightened as everyone else was.

They told me they were the Seven of the Circle, and that this was the last time they would be called.

The Circle was the way they were taught and they were the future. Each had a symbol of gold upon their chest signifying their names: Eagle, Wolf, Phoenix, Tiger, Dragon, Unicorn, and Dolphin.

?The time has come, Siblings,? shouted Eagle. Suddenly they gathered in a circle and began to chant. The Unknown was upon them, yet all remained in order, as the Circle does. Screams rose from the people, as the Unknown reached the airport.

From the Circle there rose a huge fireball, which was thrust at the Unknown. Their power combined with the forces of nature. Fully prepared now, the circle broke and formed a line still linking all. From them radiated a bright light and numerous fireballs at the Unknown.

Many hours later:

With the beast defeated, the Circle collapsed from sheer exhaustion. It was finally over; the Earth was now at peace. No Unknown shall seek vengeance on the Circle again.

With the victory as ours, Joni and I gave a party with the Circle as the guests of honour, but they could not be found when I went looking for them. They had just?disappeared into the mist that was now forming. It was like they had not been there, but they had and they had destroyed the evil beast.

The only evidence that remained of the Circle that was found was a small brown velvet bag of brightly shining stones lying in the dust.

This is the original story that started the Circle's existence, though I have change much of this and created different and better stories from this, I still feel the need to show what the original looked like. Though it lacks the sophisticate writing that I developed my writing, it was a good start, with much potential.
