TAIHO JUTSU TECHNIQUES
The art advocates teaching techniques which have been proven to be realistic in use, rather than large numbers of unrealistic moves.
The goal is to be in control of a situation and to automatically respond to any threat with the appropriate use of force.
Specialised control and restraint techniques are employed to fulfill those goals. Also locks, grapples and stunning strikes implement the system.
All these techniques are secondary to the principle of avoidance, although the confrontational techniques are extremely successful.
The art involves a direct, common sense approach, for example, why exchange multiple punches to some of the body's hardest areas, when knowledge of your opponent's balance or a simple wrist turn will control a man with less injury to either party.
Also, if the situation escalates, or includes multiples, control of a person for shielding or negotiation is always a positive position to be in. From not having to resort to blows, the applicator's hands are undamaged and have full capability at this point to carry on.
This type of skill is in high demand for law enforcement officers throughout the world for obvious reasons.
