William Adolph Bouguereau was the most decorated and reknown painter of his day! He was born in La Rochelle, France in 1825 and maintained a home and studio there until his death in 1905. His fame came from the genre paintings such as "The Nymphaeum", seen here, and other subjects in the mythology catagory. This picture has been cropped to fit into the tunnel. Most of Bouguereau's genre paintings were executed in the garden outside his studio in La Rochelle.
