| November 2, 2000 Why is it that people in power are always assholes? Is it because you have to treat other people badly in order to progress, or because people defer to you because you're a jerk, or did you become rude only after (because?) you became a tyrant? At both of my two dumb jobs, the administration of the company has been difficult, impolite, and generally not great to be around. My boss here has zero people skills. I've never heard a "please" or "thank you" since I've been here. Since I'm his secretary, I'm constantly interacting with him, but he makes no effort to be friendly or even considerate. The company has gone through 9 people in my position since March, so they have to know something's up. But being that he's a mysogynist and an old weasle, he'll probably blame it on the healthy economy. He has this habit of walking by and throwing papers on my desk, which I am supposed to pick up and begin working on. Apparently no one has informed the man that acting like a cock isn't a great management strategy. And, yeah, people aren't going to work for pittance when you treat them like crap, especially in this market. So I really want to tell him to shove his paperwork up his ass and walk out. I actually have another job offer, making $7000 more, but right now they're just working out the details of when they want me to start. I really want to go out with a bang and do something that will make the old fart get his panties in a wad. |
