Richard Fidler (born 13th October) grew up in Doncaster (Melbourne) and moved to Canberra in his teens (Thanks to Hope for this bit!) with his family.

He has a Masters in Political Science from the Australian National University and he can play many instruments including the guitar, the harp, the sitar, the drums, the axe and dinner plates. He is also a talented painter and sculptor.

He played the 'happy victim' in the Allstars (as beautifully put by Elle McFeast!), but he has definitely moved away from that image. Especially since he began hosting of the Pay TV show Mouthing Off, which is a loud, opinionative 'debate' show where anything goes and always does. He has also hosted ABC TV's "Race Around The World", Arena's "The Hub" and is scheduled to host a new technology based program for the ABC in 2001.

Richard is heavily into computers and multimedia. He wrote the Real Wild Child CD-ROM, a history of Australian Rock and Roll, and is working on his own interactive adventure game Radiant City. In 1997 and into the beginning of '98, Richard wrote a monthly column for the computer magazine Internet.au which was called Mr Nice Guy. In this column he talked about his observations on the world of the internet and computers.

He is married to Khym Lam, who played the newsreader in DAAS Kapital. She is also a model, and has appeared in a Weet-Bix ad, "All Together Now" and written her own cookbook. They have one child, Joseph. Khym is also involved in interactive multimedia, and she designed the old Race Around The World homepage.

In 1999, Richard began the year doing a Tuesday morning spot on Triple J with Adam Spencer. In his half hour slot, "Dick Predicts", he would using his all-seeing, all-knowing, mystical powers to predict the future. About half way through the year, however, he left this spot for a shift on Cosmopolitan radio, on Sunday nights (2DAY FM in Sydney and FOX FM in Melbourne and other stations around the capital cities of Australia). His co-host for 2000, for the sex-lifestyle discussion show was Libby Gore, aka Elle McFeast, and the pair have returned for 2001.

In early 2001, Richard hosted a program for the ABC, entitled Aftershock, which was similar in structure to Mouthing Off, but was more technology-based.
