Paradiso and Viva Tango Paradiso, a weekly Friday night milonga run by Patricia and Regina, is the longest running milonga in Toronto. An introductory class preceeds the milonga for anyone wishing to start learning tango. During the summer months, they also host a mini milonga as part of the Pedestrian Sundays at the Kensington Market. A site full of resources, such as lyrics, sheet music, discography, images. This site is actually endorsed by the Argentinian government. Radio 2x4 of Buenos Aires (FM 92.7) live by internet. 2x4 (Dos por Cuatro) is not the building material. It refers to the beats per bar musical notation typically used for tango. How to navigate on the dance floor - Robin Thomas's Floorcraft page Robin Thomas is a well known DJ and teacher from the US. He was one of the invited teacher/DJs in the first two Toronto International Tango Festivals, and he's coming back again in 2007. Here is a link to an article he wrote on floor-craft. Robin's own web site is here: Rick McGarrey started with some tango travelogues chronicling his experiences in Buenos Aires and the rest of Argentina in 2001, when the economic crisis hit Argentina and the rest of the continent. While there he connected with a tanguera, and through her, met many of the milongueros who not only dance tango, but live it. He started videotaping the milongueros as a way of recording the living history of the milongas. The result gave him material to examine what makes a good dancer. His stories are facinating, and his insights in dancing are thought provoking. I have spent hours on the site, and keep going back. Tango blogs written by a wide range of personalities.
