BEHIND ENEMY LINES
-Official the bill website
A dramatic siege in a building society provides a
real test of her ability for CID newcomer DC Kate Spears
(Tania Emery) in a new feature length special of THE
BILL:
Spears pays a routine visit to the building society's
manager to talk about crime prevention, but soon finds
herself embroiled in an armed robbery. With all the
activity in the main office, Spears hides under the desk
in the manager's office and whispers through details of
the robbers, Rollo (Michael Hodgson) and Dwight (Terence
Maynard), to Sun Hill.
All units are sent to the building
society with PC Dale Smith (Alex Walkinshaw) arriving
first on the scene. But in his haste to get involved he
is knocked down, struck with the butt of Rollo's gun and
dragged into the building society.
The building is surrounded by armed
police, but Rollo tells Chief Inspector Conway (Ben
Roberts) that the hostages will be hurt if his demand
for transport out of the area are not met.
Behind Enemy Lines is the first major
episode for 25-year-old Bill newcomer Tania Emery.
Before joining The Bill she featured in a trilogy of
films about London life, directed by Simon Rumley - The
Truth Game, Strong Language and Club de Monde.
Says Tania: "I love working on
films, but it's also a great opportunity to get a role
in a series as popular as THE BILL - especially as a
feisty, kick-ass, kind of girl like Spears. I studied
drama at the London Studio Centre with Alex Walkinshaw,
who plays PC Smith, so it's great fun to be working with
him again.
"Spears looks and acts like a
character out of Buffy the Vampire Slayer than a copper.
She comes across as a bit of an airhead who should be
working in a new age health centre, but she is far from
innocent or a soft touch. Viewers will see exactly what
she is made of in Behind Enemy Lines."
Behind Enemy Lines is written by
Edward Canfor-Dumas, directed by Rob Bailey and produced
by Jamie Nuttgens.
