A mad gunman is on
the loose in Sun Hill. Supt. Chandler takes a
personal interest in the case, but when he
confides his reasons to a young woman who was
threatened by the gunman, he is horrified to find
she was a journalist and the story is published in
the Sun Hill Gazette. Feeling unappreciated in the
job, DCI Meadows considers other options, and
attempts to smooth things over with his
long-suffering wife, Laura. Meadows teams up with
DS McAllister and the two of them strike out on
their own, and after a few close calls, arrest
their prime suspect - a motor mechanic with a
history of firearms offences. As they interview
him however, the gunman strikes again...
Chandler and Cullen
are not too pleased after Meadows and McAllister
release their prime suspect, Alan Merrick. DC
Lennox receives a call from the Army, telling them
of another suspect, a recent deserter named Jason
Starr. As Meadows and the team capture Starr, DS
McAllister and reporter Andrea Roper are taken
hostage by Merrick and Matty Fletcher. Merrick
shoots Fletcher when he tries to leave, and is
himself shot by SO19. Meadows and McAllister are
congratulated for their handling of the situation.

Kate Spears
Appearance:
DC Spears, is placed on a surveillance job and
trails a suspect from their flat, to a gym centre
and then finally handing the arrest over to DCI
Jack Meadows to move in on them.
Kate Spears Sighting: 40%
Spears is only seen once and very briefly
during part one, but is seen again in the second
half of part two where she trails a suspect on
foot, communicating with the DCI via
walkie-talkie. Overall this is a decent Spears
appearance worth watching.
