Radu's Cave

Library - Poetry - Visiting A Long Lost Friend

It's been a year, can you believe it?
I miss your smile, but soon I'll see it.
While we've been apart, (yet not out of touch)
My body's aged little, my heart has aged much.

My joy has grown larger, my sorrow grown small,
O'er the past winter, spring, summer, and fall.
I've talked with you much, but seen you so little,
Though I cherish each word, each jot, and each tittle.

The time now is short, but each day seems much longer,
My desire to see you just keeps growing stronger.
My nervousness now begins to get higher,
Should I keep my mouth shut, or send out a flyer?

The fact that I'll see you soon is the best thing,
And for the most part, you know I'm not jesting.
Although some of this sounds like I'm Dr. Seuss,
It's only you've helped me to cut my mind loose.

It's just about time, I must be going,
I've opened my mind, too much is showing.
After I go, I'll look toward the day,
But first I have something I wish to say.

Can you guess who I am?
Nope, I'm just a poem.
But as for who wrote me,
I'll bet that you know 'im.

Ha Ha, He He, Ho Ho, Hum Hum,
Boy was this poem a whole lot of fun.
