Tanya's Diary - Saturday, 24 August 2002
"This morning after a lot of humming and haaring over the price (£16), I finally decided to check out Madame Tussauds. BIG MISTAKE, I spent 1½ hours in a queue before I finally got in, although I really liked it. It is very well done.
Afterwards I went to Covent Gardens to see the markets. I bought a top and belt there.
I went and got a muffin and an ice lattè, and knocked it over before I could drink it. I was so fucked off and my muffin was horrible. I went back to catch the underground back to my hotel and found the station closed. A cute Pommy guy gave me directions to the next one. I was disappointed when he asked if I'm Australian.
Met my room mate for the night. She had just come off a Scandinavian tour and had a video camera stolen in Copenhagen, and has warned my to be very careful with my belongings.
Went to my tour meeting at 6 and met my tour guides and other people in my group. Have to get up at 6 tomorrow so must go to bed shortly."
Tanya told me that the camera fired before she was quite ready in this automatic photo machine at Madame Tussauds. That is why she looks a bit stunned.
Tanya was attracted to 'something New Zealand' that she spotted at Madame Tussauds', and this proved to be a model of Jonah Lomu in his All Black gear. She didn't think it really looked like him though when she got closer.
