Tanya's Diary - Monday, 19 August 2002
"Jenna and Russell left early this morning for their cruise.
We took Uncle Paul to the airport. He went on to finish his holiday in Milano, Italy. From there, Auntie Pam, Dennis and I caught a Flying Tog (fast train) into Oslo. There we went to see a Viking Museum, which I found ultra boring. Pam and Dennis seemed to enjoy it, but I spent most of the time outside smoking.
After we were able to find a taxi, we went into the city to a mall with 4 stories of shops. I had a Burger King there. It was nothing like NZ. I was disappointed.
I bought a backpack there, then we caught a slow tog back to Årnes, and half way it turned into a dead tog - and they called taxis for all the passengers.
When we finally got home, we ate moose for tea. It was very similar to beef. Maybe a bit more like venison.
After dinner, I watched half of 'Pleasantville' on TV. Then had to go to bed."

The 'dead tog'. The (same?) one Paul and Russell travelled on a few days earlier had also 'died', and so this was something topical to the NZers - given the state of NZ railways nowadays. Below is another view of the 'dead tog' (Photos: Pam)
