On this page, you will find the directions, rubrics, and due dates for upcoming major assignments. It is important to remember that you can only get full credit for a major assignment if it is handed in on the due date.* You may pass in an assignment for reduced credit (lose one letter grade) one day after the due date. After that, you will receive half credit for up to one week. After one week, the assignment will not be given any credit.
*Note: Full credit will be given to someone who was absent on the due date as long as it is brought into school on the day the he/she returns to school. Special arrangements can be made in the event of a longer absence. Please talk to me privately.
For information about day-to-day homework and classwork, please check the agenda that is filled out and monitored daily. As with major assignments, homework and classwork will receive full credit when turned in on time. Homework or classwork that is turned in a day late will be marked down one letter grade. After that, you will receive half credit for up to one week. After one week, the assignment will not be given any credit. Your first assignment is a Me Box. The directions and rubric are included below.
ME BOX
Your first assignment for English class is to create a Me Box. Find any sort of box or bag, and put five items in it that are important to you or that show something about your personality. The items can be whatever you want—photographs, magazines, things you collect, CD covers (please do not bring actual CD), favorite book, trophies, or anything you can fit in your box. You will need to present your five items to the class. It is your chance to introduce yourself and get to know your classmates. Your Me Box is due tomorrow. The rubric below explains how you will be graded.
