Reason #3-Against the Death Penalty

Up Reason #1 Reason #2 Reason #3

One of the groups' reasons for ending the death penalty is that we are one of the last world powers to conduct executions. The death penalty has not been shown to be a deterrent to crime. The French abolished capital punishment in 1981. In Great Britain, The Murder (abolition of the death penalty) Act of 1965 abolished capital punishment for a five –year period, but was made permanent in 1969, before the five year time period expired. In Australia the death penalty was abolished state by state in 1922. Some of the other countries that still use the Death Penalty include the US, Saudi Arabia, and China.

For all of the previously listed reasons,  believe we should end Capital Punishment. To reiterate, it is inhumane, it violates the teachings of the New Testament of the  Bible, and it is not an acceptable behavior worldwide. This, plus the other items stated earlier, are all reasons why religious groups stand firm in their belief that the death penalty is highly unacceptable.
