Photo-realism: This is the style that I strive for. Most of my photo-realism work, however, is different in a few ways from what most people think of this style. As most artists use paint for a medium, I use white and colored pencils. Also, most photo-realistic artists tend to paint everyday, rather mundane subjects, such as street scenes, still lifes and landscapes. My favorite thing to draw, in contrast, is people - preferrably faces - and scenes which evoke more drama, illustration, and
emotions. I almost always use photo-reference, whether from real or created images, to get the most realistic quality in my drawings as is possible. From there, I start the drawing with a white Prismacolor pencil to get in my light values. When I am about 2 thirds the way done, I am ready to add color to the piece if required. I use the white underneath to help me with light and color depth and I start lightly and work
heavier. I usually color on black board, although I have used colored board on request, I find that darker colors in the background help to bring life more dramatically in the piece.

A professionally trained artist, hairstylist, and makeup artist. She has been a licensed Cosmetologist since 1993 and a professional artist for longer than that. Although she recently retired from salon hairdressing because of severe long-term tendonitis, she continues to work with cutting edge photographers and stage presentations. By doing this, she was able to save her wrists and hands to keep creating things on her
own.

She has done hair and makeup for fashion shows, photo shoots, weddings, and private events. Her hair and makeup work can been seen online and in print, in modeling portfolios, stock photography, fashion shows, and publications. Her work has also been seen in Gothic Beauty magazine, in an article about a local fashion show, and did hair and makeup for a wedding that had been filmed for TLC's A Wedding Story. She recently finished working on an independent film (The Resurrectionist - Jason Soles) that was shown at the H.P. Lovecraft festival in Portland, Oregon in fall of 2002, in which she worked as lead makeup and special effects artist. She is looking forward to more advanced shoot and makeup
opportunities.
