Climbing at Swanage


I find the climbs at Swanage more varied than Portland in terms of route gradings and location (eg cliffs and quarries). In addition, most of the climbs are accessed by abseiling to the rocky ledge at the foot of the cliff, rather than having to scramble accross the beach. However, all climbs are with natural gear, as there no bolts drilled in the rock (stakes in the ground at the top of the cliff).

The scenery whilst climbing, and of the towns and countryside surrounding Swanage is spectacular (see link below), that is providing you don't mind the waves lapping up at the rock you are climbing!
