Discography:
Dru Hill (1996)
Enter The Dru (1998)
Formed: 1992 in Baltimore, Maryland
Dru Hill were first spotted by their manager, Kevin Peck, at the age of 14, when singing in a local talent show in 1992. In 1995 Dru Hill met Hiriam Hicks, the President of Island Black Music, at a party for BET's 'Rap City'. Hiriam Hicks was impressed by their talent and asked them to record a track that he was doing (i.e. 'Tell Me') for the film 'Eddie'. It was that same afternoon that they hit the studio and recorded the track that took them to the #1 spot in the charts.
On their first album 'Dru Hill', the band co-wrote 5 tracks, including '5 Steps' and 'April Showers'. "We weren't expecting it [their first album] to be as big as it was. It hasn't been easy to get where we are now but it has been easy to adjust because we were mentally prepared." says Sisqo.
On their second album 'Enter The Dru' the Dru Hill became much more involved in the albums production and song writing, co-writing and producing 12 tracks out on an album of 17. "This album [Enter The Dru] has something for everybody." says Jazz. "We made this record to keep our fan base happy while expanding to reach more and more audiences." adds Sisqo.
As you all will know, Sisqo has embarked on a solo career alongside Dru Hill, whereas Woody has left the group to pursue his solo career. Click on the link below to check out Sisqo's new album, 'Unleash The Dragon'.
