Now we have two motifs, each completed with one full bobbin of cotton so as to give only two ends to weave in. But what does one do with all the motifs one makes? The traditional way is to join them together, of course, but they require a filler for the space between any four of them. So more ends to weave in. Well, take a look at this motif - it is square.
To join them, all you have to do is join the centre picot of each group of three (remembering that there is a fourth picot for joining on some of the chains) to its counterpart on the adjoining motif(s). (If you prefer, you can join all three of the picots.) There are five picots to be joined on each side.
This motif is made in Flora No.10 cotton, measuring 80mm (3") across, so I needed to make twelve of them to make a 240mm x 320mm (9" x 12") Table or Place Mat. (One 25 gm ball of cotton makes six/seven motifs.) You can make anything which requires a square or rectangle - a table runner, a cushion cover, a wallhanging, a throw or even a bedspread!
This is Pattern 3, Table Mat, in the List of Patterns.
