This pattern came out of a request for a decoration for a little girls hair clip, hence the name. And before anyone asks, it's a butterfly on a flower. This pattern is done in three parts; the stamen, the ruffled flower, and the butterfly, with the stamen being done last, and joining the three parts together. I will put written directions on this page for each part, with links to visual patterns on seperate pages. Worked in size 80 tatting thread, it is 1 1/4 inches (3.2 cm) across.
