This pattern was something that just came together for me, after looking at unbeaded hexagonal motifs. It doesn't have enough points to be a snowflake, so I call it a starflake. This sample was done with rocaille beads and size 20 DMC thread.
R 12---8---4
R 4 B+ 7 (1 bead on shuttle thread, 3 beads on ball thread) 7---4.
R 4 B+ 8---12.
Ch 3---7.
SSR 3---3 (5 beads on ball thread) 3---3. SS.
Ch 7---3.
*R 12 B+ 8---4
R 4 B+ 7 (1 bead on shuttle thread, 3 beads on ball thread) 7---4.
R 4 B+ 8---12.
Ch 3 B+ 7.
SS. R 3 B+ 3 join between beads 3---3. SS.
Ch 7---3.
Repeat from * 2 more times.
R 12 B+ 8---4
R 4 B+ 7 (1 bead on shuttle thread, 3 beads on ball thread) 7---4.
R 4 B+ 8 B+ to picot on first ring 12.
Ch 3 B+ 7.
SS. R 3 B+ 3 join between beads 3 B+ 3. SS.
Ch 7 B+ 3. Tie and cut to base of first chain.
