Big Pic

In the summer of 1961, when I was 14 years old, we lived on Hoskins Pike just east of Richwood, Ohio. Across the road lived Arby and Cloe Cramer. My mother occasionally sent me over to the Cramers' to buy a dozen fresh eggs, and their orange cat Blondie sometimes came over to our house to say hello. I had a new Polaroid camera loaded with their new 3000-speed film, which made it possible to take black-and-white pictures in very dim light. Candlelight, for example. And even the light of a full moon, as in this picture I shot of the Cramer house across the road. Forty years later, I used my computer to tint the image blue, to resemble the actual scene on that moonlit summer night.
