F.A.Q's
What is a moderator and how can I become one?

A moderator is in charge of making sure that everything runs smoothly in the chatrooms. They can be either a robot programed to respond to certain actions in the chat rooms or just any other normal person, like yourself. There are 2 different ways in which you can be a moderator; you could be a moderator in one of our server rooms(eg. #TheChatSpot) or in a members room. To be a moderator in a server room you have to talk with a server administrator. Server administrators can be found in the #Support room. To be a moderator in a members room it's up to the owner of that room wheather you become a moderator or not. The sure way of gaureenting that you DO NOT becoming a moderator is by begging, please DON'T beg because it really annoys admins and room owners.

What does it mean if your Nick is green in the Memebrs list?

If your nick in the mebers list is green in means you have Strict Moderation Voice. This is only intended to be used if a moderator of a room has enabled the "only users with voice may talk" option. Although the main reason for a nick being green is to show other members in the room that the person in green is a friend of a room moderator.

What is an Administrator and how can I become one?

A Server Administrator is a person who is in charge of making sure that the entire chat server runs smoothly. They have the power to make chat rooms, delete chat rooms, permanently ban people from the server and much more. The chance of someone becoming an administrator is very slim. The administrator status is usually only given to the owner of the chat server and very close friends of his/hers.

What happens if I get caught advertising?

If you get caught advertising you will more than likely find your self with a ban from our chat server. We don't mind the publication of personal homepages as long as thats all they are. If your caught advertising another chat site on our server you will most probably be permanently banned from our server. We also don't approve of the advertising of our Chat Site on other chat servers, we don't like it happening here so other servers probably don't like it happening there.

Can people see what I'm saying in a private conversation with another member(p2p)?

The only people who are able to see what is said in p2p's are Server Administrators. When you join our server you probably receive a message saying "irc.thechatspot.com recording Person-to-Person transcripts" or something along those lines, don't worry, this is only used for protection reasons. Server Administrators respect your privacy and only view p2p's if a user claims they are being harrased by other users. Administrators in no way read through people's personal p2p's, only when claims of harrassment have been filed and even then, the p2p's viewed are only those of the person filing the complaint and the person who is harrassing.
