Ideas Would Like to Try or See

Improving Success in 1st 15 Credit Hours

College-Wide: Create an online magazine of ideas about how we can help students be successful in their first 15 credit hours at Jefferson, exists to provide a forum for submitting, sharing, and learning about the courses, forms of deliver of instruction, student engaging pedagogies, student and academic support, policies, teaching/learning opportunities, and successful partnerships. It would also be a forum for sharing what we would like to see or want to do to encourage student success at Jefferson. Contact: Dan Kesterson

RDG/AS: Move the Two Full-Time Temps to Full-Time Tenure Track - The two full-time temps have a total of 14 years of experience in the division, eight as full-time temps. There is no way to replace that experience and training in developmental reading if we were to lose these faculty.

RDG/AS: Learning Outcomes and Competency Testing -If the division is to make marked strides in ensuring student success in the first fifteen credit hours, it must more clearly define its learning outcomes for its courses, services and activities. The division cannot hope to begin to deliver more timely and flexible delivery of instruction and services until learning outcomes are more clearly defined so that realistic competency testing can become the norm.

RDG/AS: Timely and Flexible Delivery of Instruction - In order for the division to begin to meaningfully deliver timely and flexible instruction, the division must increase Alternative and Supplemental Learning instructor’s contract from 10 month to 12 month. See O’Banion Anywhere, Anytime
