One Week left
Today the team meet at the Club before we left to go to Brents for supper. Mike desided that the waters at the club were to rough, so he felt that he needed to tape down (with duck tape) 5 glasses, the remote control for the TV, and the role of tape itself. Mike had a ball doing it.... but the Bartender had a different opinion. After supper the boys had a game against Jeff, Mark Ward, Kent Blanford, and Jamie. They played really well. We would like to say Hi and good luck to the Keith Ryan rink that is at the Brier, "Keeper goin buys, your doin good".
Quote for today  "Children wouldn't do that" (the tape incident)
Todays New word..... there is no new word today (sorry), but if you see Mike Adam ask him about the new sport he invented, Sod surfing, code name "Mud Man"

Today was a fun day. We had a 2 end game against the provincial government. Although they were first time curlers, "they were a little bit of alright". After the game, we went to the Holiday Inn for a recption, were there was some finger foods and they presented us with 6 Marconi celebration vests (they are really nice). We would like to thank the Provincal government for a really great time. At nine we had a practice, it was a little different than usual......(don't ask)

Today we meet at Jeff's house for supper. After supper we had a meeting, we just talked about some of the things that we will come accross when we get there.  We like going to Jeff's house because he has two young boys, and you know young boys have lots and lots of toys... but anyway back to curling... Thursday nights is the mixed league. Brad and Brents team were victorious, but Mark and Mike suffered a loss at the hands of Jamie and the Randy Perry team. hahaha.

Today we met at the CEI club for the St. John's Athlete of the Month banquet. All the team was up for the award. After a nice meal and some great words from Jack MacDuff, they anounced the winner. The Gushue rink took all of the possible 13 first place votes. From there we went straight to the club for practice. We threw all double take outs. At the start of the practice with the exception of Mark, the rest of us forgot that you had to take out 2 rocks in a double take out. But our coach Jeff reminded us about this minor detail and from then on we were a little better. The five of us got tickets to the St.John's Maple Leafs game, thanks to Dave Noftall and Mike Richardson. At the pre-game show they rolled out the red carpet and introduced us to the crowd. They gave us a Standing "O" and presented us with 6 tickets to a Utah Jazz game. We got an opportunity to sign a couple autograghs and meet a member of Great Big Sea. We would like to thank Dave, Mike and the St.Johns Leafs organization for all their support. The leafs won 6-3.

Three Days Left
Today was the big game between the 2001 Canadian Junior Champions and the 1976 (long ago!!) Brier Champions. For those of you who don't know there have only been two teams to ever win a Canadian Championship from Newfoundland. The 1976 rink consisted of Jack Macduff, Toby Macdonald, Doug Hudson, and Ken Templeton. Ken couldn't make the game, so this left a spot to fill, so the organizers of the event sold tickets on a chance to play an end as lead for the Macduff team. Jamie also played for the Macduff team and did odd jobs. The only rules to the game were that is was a skins format and that the Jack Macduff rink makes all the rules. One rule was that Mike and Brent had to sweep a couple rocks with corn broom. They were not very successful and should probably stick to the push brooms. There were some other monkey business happening but the Gushue rink managed to take the first four skins. The Macduff team took the next skin when they called in a designated thrower (Jamie!) to make a quiet tap back on the final rock of the end. Then Gushue won the final skin on a draw to the button for two. When it was all said and done everyone proceded upstairs for some finger foods and a slide show. Yes there was baby pictures. I wonder how old Mark and Shelley were when they stopped taking baths together. If there are any predictions please e-mail us!! After a few laughs at the slide show, Peter Russell (The ICE man!!) played some music and we had a dance. There was quite a bit of males dancing together. We are starting to wonder about Jamie and Sean (Natasha's boyfriend) who were doing quite a bit of bumping and grinding.
