Goals to Dreams

By Anna Aragon

One of the greatest things I remember about being at Pinnacle Mountain State Park was the wonderful motivational speech that Randy Frazier, head ranger gave us one morning before work. He shared a lot of what he has learned over the years through his own experiences and travels, he talked about how each individual has a set limit for themselves and that each person can lift their limits and push them to benefit their own personal goals and dreams. He also said that in order to achieve in pushing your limits you need to have specific goals, they have to be relevant, measurable and you should set a reasonable time limit in order for your ultimate goal to turn into your dreams. We must do this, like Randy said. "We may never come this way again." We all should take advantage of life by doing whatever it is that will make us happy and satisfied with our lives. I learned a lot from Randy that day, I feel like I have already made the first step in accomplishing my goals by making it here to the AmeriCorps. I have wanted this experience for so long, I finally took the initiative to apply, having nothing to lose, and here I am, this is probably one of the best decisions and opportunities that I have taken advantage of. The speech reminded me of a few things that I had forgotten, like when you have to fail before you can succeed, many times I have let great opportunities pass me by because if the feeling of failure and many times I have been so wrapped up in the not so important things in life that I let the things that mattered most slip right through my fingers. I believe everything in our life is important, but we should never pass up a chance for our ultimate goil in life our dreams!!!
