Gold 4, as well as the rest of the entire Gold Unit, moved many hundreds of packages of insulation from one warehouse to another. Harmony's warehouse had been rented to someone else, and they needed our help, or else would have lost all their insulation.
In the second of our two, one-day CTI (Corpsmember Training Institute) projects, Gold 4 and half the Gold unit went to Charles Towne Landing to remove an unused brick path and replace it with dirt so grass could be planted. Additional projects included mulching. The other teams went the following day.
Gold 4 drove fourteen hours, about 800 miles, to Pinnacle Mountain State park, Arkansas. On the West Summit Trail, they placed over 150 flagstones as steps, 7 waterbars, several trail signs, and a variety of other projects. Click here for more information.
Gold 4 spent six weeks and uncountable gallons of sweat building houses for low-income families on John's island. They were joined in their endeavor by members of the Navy, several chunch groups, a high school reunion led by Mayor Riley of Charleston, SC, and many other volunteers. Gold 4 spent three and a half weeks camping out near the beautiful town of Monteagle, Tennessee. They worked on the nearby Greeter Falls trail putting in rock steps aplenty, water bars, and doing general trail mainteneace. Click here for more information.
Gold 4 spent five weeks working and sweating in the hot Florida sun. They mostly did exotic removal around the Everglades Youth Conservation Camp area, but also participated in various other camp-related activities under the watchful eye of sponsor Janice Kerber. Gold 4 spent six weeks across the street from Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, their second visit to the city. At the hospital, they worked in several different areas, including the Burn Unit and the Anesthesiology department, as well as at Kids First. Click here for more information.
Gold 4 spent six weeks living in the beautiful and historic area of Waveland, Mississippi. There they worked with Hope Haven, an organization dedicated to providing shelter for abused and neglected children, building a new shelter.
