Hope Haven started in 1995 in order to provide a safe and positive environment for kids who have been victims of abuse or neglect. The shelter that exists right now is old and has very little room to house the number of kids that are coming in to the shelter, so Gold 4 decided that they would contribute their time and energy into helping in the construction of a nicer, bigger shelter in order for Hope Haven to provide the room for the many kids in need of help. When we arrived to the new shelter the framing had already been done by a previous group of volunteers our objective in 6 weeks was to get the inside of the house dry walled, painted and ready for move in and to re-roof the outside office, put proper drainage on both the house and garage to clean up the yard for a safe place for the kids to play and to build an extended wall on the side of the house where in the future they will have a basketball court. Because of the problems we had with the walls of the house not being plum drywall took a little longer than expected and because of weather conditions it made the outside work harder to work with. Even when we were faced with issues, gold 4 had a mission and that was to get whatever needed to be done, we would make sure it was done. By the 6th week had the house drywalled, the painters were able to come in and do their job the landscaping was all done the gutters were up and working the office had been re-roofed the extended wall had been built the garage had been insulated and painted and we even had time to put a jungle gym up. We also were able to move all their supplies out of storage and store it all in the garage. We accomplished what we set out to do and felt great in the process.
