Even though we have only about 3 more weeks left in AmeriCorps, I still have surreal moments like the one I am having right now. I am sitting in the back seat of the van. We are coming home from a days work. I can see everyone's heads bouncing to the rhythm of the moving van. I still can't believe that I have a life with those 9 other random people. After almost 10 months of living, working and playing together, my teammates (and now, of course, friends) should not seem random. But, somehow they do. As the van pulls up into its parking spot in the driveway, we all get out and walk up the path single file and silent. In our matching uniforms we march to the door of the old convent we are living in. Again, how did I end up in a convent in Waveland, Mississippi, on the beach with these 9 random folks? Everyone else is just going through the routine of the day - "What do you want for dinner? Are you going out for a run? What's on TV?" Sometimes I wonder if joining AmeriCorps was the right decision. I wouldn't trade any of it, though - good or bad moments. The decision I made almost 2 years ago to join was the right decision for me at the time, and I am glad I followed through with my decision. I have learned so much from each individual on the team. It's ok to be yourself for a while. You are the person you are from the experiences you have had. Open your mind and heart to all emotions, and express the happy ones (especially) when you feel like it. It's ok to make mistakes. It's ok to laugh at yourself. Trying new things is exciting.

Thank you Gold 4 for an awesome year! Love ya!
