Tent Living

After hearing that we would be camping in these great turquoise tents for all four weeks of our stay in Monteagle Tennessee, most of Gold four was happy and excited. Those though, that were not all that pumped soon learned to adapt and either deal or enjoy camping. After setting up our new home we soon realized our two sited looked like a modern adaptation of Sanford and Son. It was quite amusing.

The first week or so we had beautiful weather and all eleven of us were enjoying the nights of camp fires, smores and trivia. Soon enough though, mother nature took a turn on us and we were receiving rain everyday precisely at 2:30 pm. It was at this time we learned that our two person tents had the awful habit of taking in rain, black widows and other six or eight legged creatures that feasted on out skin when we slept in damp sleeping bags that never quite dried. We also discovered that we weren't as experienced or prepared in and for the art of camping. You would figure that Gold 4 would have a few tarps left over to shield us from the rain so we could cook our dinners without looking like drowned rats by the end, NO, we would cook with our metal coleman stoves, that we learned how to set up and use with the help of our camp savior David, who came to our rescue many a time, while the rain came down and the lightening struck. Being in the rain as much as we were I think all of us grew secret gills that helped us live in so much water.

When it wasn't raining in these rare times we got to enjoy the trails, waterfalls, swimming hole and ample space to practice our frisbee and golfing skills and had a great time.

All in all camping was fun and really brought our team closer and now we know that we can survive in the worst of living conditions and I think this might have been it.
