Problems with Nero

Problems while burning

The following error message appears:

Not enough memory to copy this CD. the available space is x MB. It needs y MB.

But according to Explorer there is still enough room on the harddisk (more than x is free), i.e. the figure y must be wrong.

Presumably you have got Norton Unerase installed. Delted files are not delted immediately but are given the attribute System, Hidden, Read-Only. the drivers of Norton Unerase make the Windows Explorer see the free memory space as well a the files marked as deleted. Nero does not receive this information.

Please deactivate Norton Unerase or deinstall it.

If the following error message appears when copying CDs: "The CD is empty, not readable or a Multisession CD" then it is possible that you are trying to copy a CD in CD-Extra format. The current Nero version can not copy CDs in this format. Copying CDs of this kind will however soon be supported.
When creating audio CDS, the following error message appears:

For the first track only 2-3 seconds are allowed

This error message means that you have set the pause before the first track to an invalid value, e.g. to 0s. This limitation does not apply to other tracks on the CD, i.e. the pause between the other individual trakcs can be set as you like, providing the CD burner can burn in DAO mode or the CD burner variable pre-gap handles with a pause of 0s.

While copying a CD or writing an image file the following error message appears

The CD is not empty.

Please insert an empty CD.

Please insert an emtpy CD. Please do not insert a CD which has been formatted with PacketWriting Software such as InCD, Prassi abCD, FloppyCD, DirectCD, PacketCD, .. , as CDs formatted like this can only be written on with the respective PacketWriting software. CDs do not have to be formatted to be written on. Please delete a CD formatted in this way using the menu item Cd recorder->Delete CD-ReWritable.

You have activated the Overburning and sitll get the error message that there is not enough room on the CD.

Possibly your CD burner can not handle the Overburning. In this case the option Overburning is ignored.
You are possibly trying to burn more onto the CD than you have permitted with the settings. Please increase the value.

If you are using a CD drive which can read at more than 30x and have set this in this way in the read speed and the speed goes down to 1x:

This problem has been fixed as of Nero version 4.0.6.2.

If it takes a long time to read in CDs, then please check if you are reading in a CD with audio data. If this is the case:

Please download the newest Nero version from our WebSite and install it.
If necessary, please deactivate the jitter correction.

CDs for PC Engine (CD video games) can not be copied by every burner. Yamaha burners can copy these CDs but burners made by Plextor can not.
The burning process or reading in suddenly becomes very fast. this problem has been solved as of Nero 4.0.3.4.
If during burning the error message appears that caching had failed, then please check if there is enough free space on the harddisk.
You are using either a Philips CDD2600 or an HP4020 and the burning process is aborted at between 1% and 80%.

Several cases are known in which exchanging the spring solved the problem. In one of the CD burner the spring from a ball-point pen was used.

The burning process goes wrong when ending it (during finalization)

Presumably WinOnCD / PacketCD is or was installed. Some driver versions of the files C2REC.VXD und C2APIX.VXD (both in the Windows\System\IOSUBSYS directory)cause this phenomenon.

Please remove the drivers mentioned (e.g. by deinstallation). Refer also to drivers of other CD burner programs.

Please for test purposes do not insert the blank until Nero asks for the blank.
The Resume function which can be activated for some burners should always be disabled as it could otherwise lead the writing errors during the burning process.
The CD burner can burn on CD-RWs at 4x. During the burning dialog however only 2x is

When burning 4x is shown but it only writes at 2x. Even the simulation runs at 4x.

Presumably you are writing on CD-RWs which your burner assumes can only be written on at max. 2x. Your burner doesn't check until it is burning at what spped the blank can be written on.

When copying CDs the tick next to direct copy is alwys on and can not be deselected

Presumably you have not selected your CD burner but the image recorder.
