Yes.
There is a possibility to avoid repeated typing in.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ahead\Nero - Burning ROM\info
Do not end Reg Edit yet!
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
and add a new string entry, e.g.: NeroStart
The entry should be as follows:
regedit /s "<path to the above saved registration file>quot;
(/s = silent mode, this means that confirmation is not necessary.)
Now no user has to type in the serial number and the name any more.
Advice on deinstallation of Nero:
Please ensure that when deinstalling Nero , the file given in no. 3 is not deleted, i.e. the Nero directory remains. Apart from that, the registration entry created in 4 is not removed. The file or the registration entry must be removed manually.
Yes.
The procedure is the same as that in NT. Please read in In NT each user has to give the serial number. Can this be avoided?
If the read speed is unexpectedly slow, then one of the reasons applies, as given in The recognized read speed is unexpectedly slow .
There are numerousCDs, usually games CDs. which have the format data,audio,audio,...,data . This format is not specified. Some CD burner can not burn this format. Only if the option ignore invalid TOC-type is set, does Nerotry to copy this kind of CD.
This means that a part of the audio filter has been developed by Syntrillium and is allowed to be used under licence in Nero . This doesn't mean that the filters don't appear in the Demo version.
For information on this, please read on in problematic CD-R/RW (and: Energy calibration area, burned CDs can not be read everywhere)
This is very easy if the Multimounter is installed.
CDs for Macintosh are usually written in the HFS file system. This format is not supported by the current Nero version.
Procedure:
Unfortunately this means that special signs such as the tilde ('~')etc. will have disappeared or become an underline ('_'). One user told us that the character key ASCII can also be used. But when doing so please note: Many files on such CDs can not be read in DOS as the ASCII character set also permits small letters. Files which have small letters in the file name, can not be read in DOS! Presumably not in Windows either, if Joliet is not active.
To do so, setthevalue of the following registration entry to 0:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ahead\Nero - Burning Rom\General\AddISOFileVersion
Note: The files on the CD are only seen as text files on the MAC.
Unfortunately, Nero doesn't alwys work correctly if busmaster drivers are installed.
In Windows 98 the busmaster operation must be deactivated for a certain drive by switching off the DMA-option in the Device Manager under CD-ROM (Start->Control Panel->System->Device Manager->CD-ROM->Properties-> DMA).
In some cases it helps to replace the busmaster driver with the Winodws 95 standard driver. To do so, proceed as follows:
Start->Settings->Control Panel->System
There doubleclick on
Device Manager->Hard disc drive controllers
Depending on the busmaster driver used, there are various procedures on how to best remove the busmaster driver:
A program can be downloaded from Intel to deinstall the Intel busmaster driver: ftp://download.intel.com/design/chipsets/drivers/busmastr/deinstbm.exe
(The program contains an installer and an uninstaller)
1. Deinstall the busmaster driver so that the Standard Dual PCI IDE Controller is entered in the Device Manager after a new start.
2. Install the busmaster driver again. You can get the respective newest version from ftp://download.intel.com/design/chipsets/drivers/busmastr/bmide_95.exe (currently only for Windows 95, for Windows 98 the busmaster driver included should be used)
3. During the thus necessary Reboot, start the computer in DOS by pressing the F8-key.
4. In the file ideatapi.inf
(can be found in the Windows\inf directory) in section [PIIX_HDC]
change the line below to the following entry:
%MF\\GOODSECONDARY.DeviceDesc% = BMIDE_CHILD, MF\\GOODSECONDARY
In section [DUAL_BMIDE.RegHW]
the new line is thus:
HKR,CHILD0001,HardwareID,,MF\GOODSECONDARY
5. Now start the computer again and the busmaster drivers will be recognized after the next Windows start, but are only available for the first channel.
6. Please check the following: In the case of
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\IOS
remove the entry NOIDE
if present. Then restart the system.
The busmaster drivers from VIA include a deinstallation routine. Just carry this out and us the Standard Dual PCI IDE Controller as the new driver for the harddisk controller.
The busmaster drivers or the drivers for the harddisk controller can be removed in the Device Manager. As Windows finds the ETEQ busmaster drivers next time it is started and installs them automatically, the INF-file of the ETEQ busmaster drive has to be removed from the Windows\INF directory. The INF file is called ETEQIDE.INF. Afterwards Windows should use the standard driver again ESDI_506.PDR).
In the case of these mainboards it makes most sense to connect the CD burner and the CD-ROM drive to the secondary port and then to deactivate the busmaster driver for the secondary port
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\hdc
DriverDesc
attention is drwan to the fact that it is the secondary port. In PortDriver
is the name of the driver being used: sis
*.*. Change this entry to esdi_506.pdr
. Please also check that the ESDI_506.PDR file is also in the Windows\System\IOSUBSYS directory and if necessary copy it from the Windows 95/98 CD.Please change into the Windows\Inf directory and look for the Inf-file which includes the busmaster driver set-up. The file will have the name OEM#.INF. The # represents a number which has been allocated by Windows. Please use a Texteditor to look through all INF-files one by one until yopu have found the busmaster driver set-up for Tyan.
If you are using Windows 95b or Windows 95c:
Please change into directory Windows\Inf\Other and delete the file Tyanco~1.inf.
Note: If you do not delete the Inf-file, then Windows will redetect and use the old busmaster driver every time Windows is started.
